Eminent Reclaim:
710 Freeway Serves as Truck Bypass

Return to the Eminent Reclaim Index

The 710 Freeway makes an easy bypass for trucks around congested downtown Los Angeles. However, the 5 freeway is the logical choice for trucks -- and relief is expected when the Alameda Corridor project is completed. Let's keep trucks on the 5 Freeway.

A noisy, dirty, 24-hour-day-seven-days-a-week truck route through residential neighborhoods from El Sereno to Sunland does not make sense. That's why commercial trucks are banned in current plans for the 710 Freeway. However, the trucking lobby has vowed to sue for use of the freeway. And the Southern California Association of Governments is reconsidering the truck ban. Once the 710 Freeway is in place, it will be the major truck route in and through Los Angeles County.
