Eminent Reclaim:
Local Contingent Still Pushes for the 710 Freeway

Return to the Eminent Reclaim Index

"Why is the 710 still here?" questions Ron Kosinski, Caltrans Chief Environmental Planner. "That's a marvelous question. It's here because you have a contingent of people from the locale who want it. Without that, we would have bailed out a long time ago."

Leading the contingent for the 710 Freeway is the City of Alhambra, including its City Manager, City Council, Redevelopment Agency and well-paid lobbyists.

Other support is drawn from labor unions, including the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, Los Angeles/Orange Building and Construction Trades Council, Southern California District Council of Carpenters, State Building and Construction Trades Council, Cement/Mason Workers Union, and Operating Engineers Local 12. More supporters include the Building Industry Association of Southern California, Southern California Contractors Association, and the Los Angeles Transportation Coalition.
